Postnatal Closing the Bones

Closing the Bones ceremonies can be found as a practice in many different cultures around the world. I have learnt the process and ceremony online with Sophie Messenger whose learning comes predominantly from Mexico and Ecuador. Its universality is in the similar needs of the postnatal body around the world. To be held, acknowledged and nourished.

The ceremony starts with a welcome. If you would like this to be combined with a birth reflections conversation with me, then we would do this first over some tea. You are then invited to lie down while I use scarves / rebozos to gently rock the head, shoulders, arms, pelvis and legs. Once the rocking stage is complete I will commence the wrapping. Using scarves / rebozos I shall wrap the head, shoulders, solar plexus, pelvis, legs and feet. I then use thick or thin blankets (depending on the season) to wrap the entire body. You are welcome to an eye bag and I shall gently guide you through a relaxation and read an matrescense honouring poem. You are invited to rest in the supports until it is time to unwrap. The ceremony ends with a cacao or tea.

Throughout the ceremony I shall make sure you are comfortable and safe. I also offer grounding and releasing energetically and hands on. These are optional and I will discuss these with you before hand.
